Active Shooter Safety

The Department of Homeland Security defines an active shooter as an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area. In the wake of recent national tragedies involving active shooters, the Merriam Police Department would like to share information which focuses on what to do if an active shooter event occurs in the workplace or any place where people are gathered.

“Our top priority is keeping the community safe, and businesses play a big role in the Merriam community,” Merriam Police Chief Mike Daniels said. “This is the type of training we hope nobody has to use, but it’s always better to be prepared.”
